Laura Mulvey first used the term "male gaze" in 1975. She believes that an audience views other characters (especially women) through a heterosexual male perspective. In music videos, women tend to wear revealing clothing and the camera lingers on their bodies.
In these clips from the music video by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, the "male gaze" is demonstrated well. Both the camera and the artist/dancers focus on the woman's body, and as a viewer, we are encouraged to do so too.
